Valley Humane Society: Call for Mural Artists

My name is Carly Krakauer and I am a Girl Scout in Pleasanton. I am working on my Gold Award that requires me to do a project that benefits the community. For that project I am working with the Pleasanton Valley Humane Society. They have asked me to find artists who are willing to donate their talents by creating and painting a mural to brighten up the VHS visitor rooms making them more appealing to the pets and potential pet owners that visit.

Each mural will be on the back wall of a visitor room which is approximately 5 feet high x 8 feet wide. The subject matter would be a scene that highlights a Tri-valley city. I am looking for three artists (one mural per artist) to create a scene that represents either Danville, San Ramon, or Livermore. The medium would be acrylic wall paint. We have about 6 months to complete the project. I would try to be available to help the artists while they are working.

Once the murals are finished, VHS will host an art showing in their facility and invite the community and local dignitaries to attend. Each participating artist will have the opportunity to highlight the mural they created and have a section in the facility classroom to feature their other art work. In addition, VHS plans on highlighting the murals through their social media, press releases, and on their website.

If you might be interested in helping me on my Gold Award Project or have additional questions, please email me at skibuddy778 at yahoo.com. I can set up a meeting with you so you can see the facility and meet with Melanie Sadek, Director of the Valley Humane Society.

Sincerely,

Carly Krakauer
